FAQ
What is microblading?
The term Microblading was first used in the 1970s, however the process itself is age-old, with records of similar techniques used in Asia dating back thousands of years. In the last 25 years however, since the natural-looking fuller brows have gained popularity, the procedure has been refined further.
Microblading eyebrows refers to the technique of using a handheld blade and colour pigments to create fine, semi-permanent natural- looking hair strokes on the skin. Mimicking real brow hairs, this technique allows our highly skilled and British- trained Cosmetic Makeup Artists to elegantly shape and fill clients’ brows to frame the face to perfection.
Does Microblading hurt?
As individuals, we all have different pain thresholds, so one may feel something different to another. However we do everything we can to make you feel as comfortable and as pain free as possible. A lot of clients say the feeling is similar to plucking or threading; you might feel a sensation of ‘scratching’ but it is not generally a painful experience.
How long does Microblading / Nanoblading last?
This varies hugely from person to person and depends on skin type, lifestyle and how well you take care of your microbladed brows.
Your microblading eyebrows can last anywhere between 6 months to 2 years. For the best results, you must follow the aftercare instructions we provide. Both microblading and nanoblading can be treated on most skin types, however it can fade more easily and not work as well on those with oily skin and large pores
It is recommended to use SPF50 on the microbladed brows after the full healing period to help prolong the colour, especially living in warmer climates.
We always recommend coming to Browns & Co for a complimentary consultation with our expert Cosmetic Artists to determine which semi permanent makeup procedure is best for your eyebrows and skin type.
What is a retouch?
A retouch is a follow-up session with your Cosmetic Artist after your original microblading treatment. A microblading retouch appointment is fill in any gaps or add additional colour if required to the eyebrows; it’s like adding the ‘final touch’. It is completely normal for the first session to need a retouch. A retouch appointment is recommended to be booked between 1 to 3 months following your original appointment.
How often do I need a colour boost?
When your microblading eyebrows have faded at least 60/70% , we recommend coming in for a colour boost.
This can be anywhere from 6 months up to 24 months depending on your skin type and lifestyle. The price of the colour boost varies, depending on the length of time between each session.
Adding too much colour pigment to the skin too soon will result in the new pigment blending outwards and causing a bit of a blurry result. This means that the crisp, realistic hair strokes will not be noticeable or achievable.

Nanoblading, is essentially what you would expect with the term ‘nano’ – it is a smaller version than micro, and a smaller blade is used in this manual method.

How long will it take to see the full results?
The treatment is a 2 treatment process. The first session and the retouch appointment which we recommend between 1 – 3 months maximum after the initial session.
After the retouch you will see the final results. You will still see incredible results after the first session, however results may vary after the first session due to lifestyle and how you’re taking care of your brows. The brows may look a little bit patchy and need some areas filled in, which is what the retouch appointment is for. If you want to go darker colour tone, then we can add this on the retouch session.
Can I exercise after getting nanoblading?
It is best to avoid heavy sweating for at least 48 hours after the procedure. You will receive full aftercare instructions that we strongly advise you to adhere to, to get your desired results.
