BEFORE AND AFTER LIP NEUTRALISING
Lip Lightening and Lip Neutralisation is a semi-permanent makeup treatment available at Browns & Co.
Lip neutralization is a bespoke and gradual process that brightens and can lighten darker lips, masking hyperpigmentation (those darker areas of the lips). This treatment works to create an even lip tone and brighten naturally darker lip shades.
WHY IS IT CALLED ‘NEUTRALISATION’?
The treatment aims to create an even tone across both the top and bottom lips and produce a consistent colour. Sometimes, the upper and lower lips may be different shades or have darker tones. Lip Neutralisation brings them back into balance, to create a consistent and even lip tone across both lips.
The treatment is gradual, meaning it usually cannot be achieved in just one session, often taking a few sessions of colour layering. The treatment fundamentally rectifies skin undertones and counteracts them with complimentary colours to achieve a neutralized lip tone.
THE PROCESS
The procedure requires a skilled and certified Cosmetic Makeup Artist with a working knowledge in colour therapy and experience in layering techniques.
The first session of Lip Neutralisation / Lip Lightening is usually an application of cooler colour undertones, partnered with warmer – based colour pigments to lift the darkness of the lips. The second and third session tend to add more colour to touch up the colour, helping the lips to appear more defined and fuller. Gradually the lips are brought to the desired shape and tone, creating natural and long-lasting results.
PREPARATION
Here at Browns & Co, we recommend exfoliating the lips 3 days prior to your first appointment for optimal results.
It is important to avoid any type of blood thinner, including but not limited to; alcohol, coffee, ibuprofen, tylenol, aspirin, fish oil etc.
We love to know what your desired tone is, so if you have a favourite lipstick or lip gloss colour, please bring this with you as there are so many different shades of ‘red’ or ‘pink’ for example.
WHAT ABOUT AFTERCARE?
You will receive a full aftercare leaflet and advice from your Browns and Co Aesthetician in your appointments, but the healing process takes time.
Your lips will start to appear dry and flakey, particularly around day 5 – it is important not to pick the scabs! Your lips will need time to heal and may appear even darker as they heal. Allow the process and don’t judge the results until the full healing time period is complete.
You will receive a balm to use to help keep the lips moisturised and assist in the healing process.
Lip Neutralisation / Lip Lightening is suitable for any patient seeking to enhance and even-out their lip tone. For more information contact us, or book an appointment today.
